In an AR Exclusive, the founder of AL_A talks through the concept of this year’s MPavilion

Situated in Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Gardens, the MPavilion, now in its second year, is Australia’s answer to the Serpentine Pavilion. This year AL_A, the studio of Amanda Levete has created a grouping of plant-like stems topped with a translucent canopy, all of which sways in the wind. Embedded speakers turn the pavilion into an ambient soundscape, and at night LED’s create a dreamy space of dappled light.

In the video below, produced exclusively for the Architectural Review, Amanda Levete talks through the inspiration behind the ‘forest canopy’ design.
